George Dewey Peltz, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2019 with his family by his side, from complications due to respiratory conditions he has been facing for the last 2 1/2 years. George is predeceased by his wife Nina (Ungurian) Peltz (2001).
George was born and raised in Weatherly, PA and made his home with his wife and kids in Dorrance, PA. George joined and honorably served in the Army as a PFC from 1952 to 1954, and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. His favorite story to tell (one of many) was about his time working in the Hurst Shifter Manufacturing Factory for the last 11 years. In recent years, George lived on Cape Cod with his daughter Christine and her husband Robert Grosz.
George was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and tracing his family roots which go back to the Revolutionary War. George’s hobbies included making homemade wine, gardening, raising farm animals, and working on automobiles. More than anything he loved his family. He will be missed by everyone that knew him, especially his family.
George is survived by his daughters, Virginia (Ungurian) Bound and her husband Randy, of FL, Christina (Ungurian) Grosz and her husband Robert, of Cape Cod, MA; son-in law James Finnamore, former husband to Virginia; daughter-in-law Susan (Breen) Ungurian; as well as many grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids.
In addition to his wife, George is predeceased by his sons; Adam T. Peltz (1995), Derick J. Peltz (2007), and F. Anthony Ungurian (2008).
In lieu of flowers, it was George’s wish from everyone to make a donation to your favorite charity.
Graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 am in Albert Cemetery, Mountain Top.
