Alfred J. Buchholz, 64, of Mountain Top, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, May 28, 2022, with family members at his side.
He was born December 31, 1957, in Queens, NY, he was the son of Margaret Kikel of Mountain Top and the late Alexander Buchholz. He graduated from Crestwood High School, class of 1976. He was a boxer and a golden glove contender. At Crestwood, he met and married his high school sweetheart, Diane (Skala) Buchholz and had a loving family.
He was the owner of A&B Door Company and stayed with the company as a leader in business after it was sold. He was an accomplished Enduro and Hare Scramble dirt bike racer and held many AMA District 6 Championships. Later in life, he enjoyed playing in golf leagues and was a member of The Montage Mountain Ski Awareness Team. He also was an avid hiker and started to “through hike” the Appalachian Trail, but cancer stopped him short on the trail.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Buchholz.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughters Kristin and Stacy Buchholz, son, Alex Buchholz; siblings Edward (Mandy) Buchholz and Warner (Marcy) Buchholz; nieces and nephews and his partner, Nancy Foley.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 9:30 am from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top.
Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home on Sunday, June 5, 2022 or from 9:00 am Monday morning until time of service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dr. Roger Cohen’s Cancer Research at the University Of Pennsylvania’s Pearman Center or the Appalachian Trail Conservatory .
