Andrew Gegaris, Sr.

Andrew Gegaris Sr., 85, of Mountaintop, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Born on October 29, 1940, in Sugar Notch, he was the son of the late Joseph and Julia Smith Gegaris. Andrew was a graduate of Sugar Notch High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

Following his military service, Andrew was employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he worked as a radar technician retiring as a quality control analyst. Later, he enjoyed a second career driving for Churnetski Transportation, where he was known for his friendly smile and dependable nature.

Andrew was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished time spent outdoors. Whether sharing stories with family and friends or enjoying the peace and quiet of nature, he appreciated life's simple pleasures.

Above all, Andrew was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. His love for his family was unwavering, and he will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, and quiet strength.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores Augustine Gegaris; his sons, Andrew Gegaris Jr. and his wife, Kristin, of White Haven, and Christopher M. Gegaris and his wife, Cynthia, of Mountaintop; four cherished grandchildren; his brothers, Joseph Gegaris and his wife, Patricia, of Sugar Notch, and George Gegaris and his wife, Cathy, of Mountaintop; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Blessing service will be conducted on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 4:00 pm from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top, with Reverend Vincent Dang officiating. Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 2:00 pm until time of service. 

Andrew's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered their love, support, and compassion during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
