CHARLES JOHN SOBOLEWSKI

Charles John Sobolewski, of Mountain Top, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 with family by his side.

Born in Hunlock Creek, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen Raczkowski Sobolewski Sr. and was a graduate of Newport Township High School.  He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era being the recipient of the Marksman Sharpshooter Medal and other military medals. He worked as a furnace teaser for Certainteed in Mountain Top and enjoyed spending time with family and gardening.  Being very active in the community, Charles was a member of St. Mary's Church, Dorrance; Knights of Columbus, Slocum Township VFW Post #7918 and Mountain top American Legion Post 781.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edward Sobolewski; sister Cecelia Littleton and Dorothy Fink.

Left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss is his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Ilkewicz Sobolewski; children, Charles (Rebecca) Sobolewski Jr. of Meridian, Idaho, David (Jennifer) Sobolewski fo Nuangola, Julie Sobolewski of Mountain Top, Jennifer (Tom) Dubesky of Hazleton, James Sobolewski of Hazleton; grandchildren, Sydney, Madyson, Hannah, Felicia, Samantha, Angela, Thomas, Dahmon, Nathan, Trista; great grandchildren, Chloe, Sydney, Lilly, David, Sarah; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12:15 from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm in St. Mary, Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Dorrance Twp. Interment with military honors will follow in the Parish Cemetery, Dorrance Twp.

Friends are invited to join the family on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm and Friday from 11:45 am until time of service at the funeral home.
