Christine I. Stein

Christine I. Stein, of Slocum Township, passed away on June 29, 2026 at the age of 90. 

Born on January 19, 1936 in Bloomsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Gottstein and Esther Singley Gottstein. 

Christine graduated from Bloomsburg High, Class of 1954. She married her husband of 66 years, Fred H. Stein on March 23, 1957, and became a busy mother to her 6 children. Family meant everything to Chris, being raised in numerous foster homes as a child. 

She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Slocum and when her children were older she became a school bus driver for Rinehimer Bus Co., driving until her retirement. She had many pets throughout her life. She especially loved horses and dogs and was an avid horseback rider. 

Christine is survived by 5 of her children, Patricia Fine (Daniel), Laurel Davis (Stu), Susan Guzzi (William), Angela Miller (Randy), and Richard Stein (Karin). Eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 2 nephews and nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Stein, her son, Fred C. Stein, and her brother, and sister, Irving Burlingame, and Ardella Perko.

A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral & Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top. Friends are invited to join the family from 12:00 noon until time of service at the funeral home.
