DAVID REILLY Obituary

David J. Reilly, 75, of Mountain Top, passed away at home, Sunday, October 10, 2021, with loved ones by his side.

 

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Margaret Lewis Reilly and was a graduate of St. James High School and earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Chemistry and Physical Science from West Chester University. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, on the MSO leader, ship known as an Ocean Minesweeper. He did two tours in Vietnam and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Prior to retirement, David was an AP Chemistry Teacher in the Downingtown Area School. He was a member of St. Jude's Church, VFW and was very interested in genealogy and his Irish Heritage. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but mostly spending time with his family and grand kids. During his younger years, he was very active in sports, coaching football, track, girls basketball and wrestling and was a fan for many years of Villanova Men's Basketball.


 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his sister, Dorothy Walrath.


 

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Doreen Yankosky Reilly; daughter, Coleen (William) Wickman; son, Neil (Alexis) Reilly; grandsons, Andrew and Jackson Wickman; granddaughters, Reese and Norah Wickman, Abigael and Evelyn Reilly; brothers, Thomas (Judy) Reilly and Joseph (Colleen) Reilly; sister, Gloria (Robert) Bowden and many nieces, nephews and cousins.


 

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 10:30 am from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
