Francis Zamboni Obituary

Francis J. Zamboni (Zam), of Mountain Top, passed away April 16, 2026.

Born in Mount Carmel on March 5, 1937, he was the son of the late Edward J. Zamboni and Josephine M. Trylong Zamboni. Francis graduated from Mount Carmel High School then enlisted in the United States Navy. After enlistment, Francis worked as a Federal Government Employee also attending various night classes including at LCCC to advance his career. Eventually Retiring from Tobyhanna Army Depot. 

He was a member of St. Jude’s Church and the American Legion of Mountain Top. A true outdoorsman, Francis loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He cherished the many trips he shared with his brothers and children, visiting various locations including Lake Ontario and Red Rock. He especially enjoyed fishing for trout at Schrader Creek. In his later years, he found great joy in gardening and cooking, often preparing meals for those he loved.

Surviving are his children, Jim Zamboni of Hudson, New York; Christopher Zamboni and his wife, Tammy, of Slocum Township; Daniel Zamboni of Clayton, North Carolina; and Lisa Deibert and her husband, Ken, of Swoyersville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cassandra Camp, Kenny Deibert, Julia, Madeline, and Laura Zamboni.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Georgianna Heiser Zamboni; and siblings, Gertrude, Edward, John “Jack,” and Virgil.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, April 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude’s Church, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment with military honors will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg, Pennsylvania.
