James Stephens, 70, of Mountain Top, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John and Rita Corbett Stephens. He graduated from Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre, where he excelled in football and earned his Bachelor's Degree from King's College. Jim was self-employed as a food broker and worked serving his customers up until his recent illness. In his spare time he loved watching Notre Dame Football and caring and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maureen Loughney.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Claire Turchin Stephens; children and grandchildren, Ryan (Donna) Stephens of Dallas and their daughter, Alyxandria Stephens; Gregory (Lisa) Stephens of Pittsburgh and their daughter, Ella Stephens; Nicole (Bryan) Kobusky of Mountain Top and their sons Owen and Ethan Kobusky. He is also survived by brothers, John and Mark Stephens; sisters: Kathleen Stephens, Patricia Carr and Lisa (Bernie) Banas.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 19, 2021, at 12:00 noon from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd, Mountain Top with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top at 12:30 pm. Reverend Joseph Evanko will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mary Mother of God Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home Monday morning.
