Joel Kuzyk Obituary

Joel F. Kuzyk

July 9, 1959 – March 11, 2026

Joel F. Kuzyk, 66, of Mountain Top, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born July 9, 1959, in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Gillis Kuzyk. Joel graduated from Bishop Hoban High School and later attended WACC/Penn College of Technology, where he began preparing for a lifelong career as a diesel mechanic.

Joel was passionate and took great pride in his work as diesel mechanic. Over the span of 48 years, he worked his way from the basics to a Class A diesel mechanic and mentor to any willing to learn.  He was also a lifelong member of St. Jude’s Parrish, Mountain Top, PA, and a loyal Penn State fan.

Above all else, Joel cherished family.  He enjoyed spending time with his “brothers” fishing and hunting, spending time outdoors, sharing his gardening tips, and answering all the “How do I” questions. Joel’s love for his dogs was known by all. Buddy and Baxter loved to sit in his lap sharing watermelon and Cheez-Its.

Joel is survived by his loving wife, Vera “Dee” Moon Kuzyk; his daughters, Adrianne Kuzyk-Sorensen and her husband, Benn, of East Meredith, New York, and Tina Kuzyk and her husband, Paul Konschnik, of Wapwallopen; his cherished grandchildren, Cody (Haylee) Konschnik, Noah Konschnik, Hunter Konschnik, Sorena Sorensen, Joseph Sorensen, Elora Sorensen, and Alexander Sorensen; his sister, Jolaine (Timothy) Dymond; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Sorensen. Joel will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hardworking nature, and the love he had for the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountaintop with interment at the convenience of the family in Albert Cemetery, Mountain Top.
