Kathleen M. Price, 65, of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 31, 2021 following an exceptionally aggressive battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease/Vascular Dementia. Kathy passed with her loving husband of 42 years by her side.
Born in Scranton, Kathy was the daughter of Robert and Annette Ritterbeck Kennedy. Kathy earned her undergraduate degree in secondary education/history from Penn State University, and later, while teaching full-time and raising three children, a Master’s degree in Applied Computer Technology from Wilkes University. Over the course of her career, Kathy was an educator in Norfolk Public Schools in Virginia, St. Jude’s Elementary School in Mountain Top, Bishop Hafey High School in Hazleton, and Bear Creek Charter School in Wilkes-Barre. Kathy brought lessons alive for all her students, and she had a remarkable capacity to earn her students’ admiration through her willingness for silliness. Kathy was also a fierce friend and firebrand, active with Relay for Life, St. Jude’s Church, and any activity involving Broadway musicals.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, John.
Kathy is survived by her life’s great love, Anthony “Tony” Price; three children, Tony Price of Wilkes-Barre; Therese Price and her husband, Nick, of Minneapolis; Daniel Price and his wife, Samantha, of Wynnewood; her four (almost five) grandchildren; siblings Patricia McDermott, Karen Leondi, and Robert Kennedy; and innumerable, much-loved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Mass for immediate family/invitees will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at St. Jude’s Church, Mountain Top and will be live-streamed for extended family/friends to join by visiting www.stjc.org.
A celebration of Kathy’s life (replete with nut-free carrot cake, Limoncello, and plenty of music will be held at a later, safer date).
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made in Kathy’s name to the St. Jude’s School Library (422 S Mountain Blvd, Mountain Top, PA 18707).
