Maureen Patricia Diaz, 68, of Mountaintop, died on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie McKinley and was a graduate of Massapequa High School, Glen Cove Community Hospital School Of Practical Nursing, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Luzerne County Community College with Associate's Degree in Health Care Management. Maureen worked as a Licensed Practitioner Nurse early in her career before devoting her time to raising her three children. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, watching Jeopardy, soap operas, and Hallmark channel. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and friends, she enthusiastically attended her grandchildren's performances and games and later enjoyed talking about everyone's achievements. She was an avid football fan cheering for her Vikings, NY Jets, and hosting weekly viewings of her son's Cincinnati Bengals with a cheese, meat, and cracker spread.
She was preceded by her mother Marie, Father William, and Brother William.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 48 years, Renato Diaz; children, Brian Diaz and Nina Colegrove of Orefield, PA, Eileen Diaz and Pat O'Connor of Allentown, PA, and Neal Diaz and Chad Taylor of Mountain Top; two grandchildren Reese Sebastian Diaz and Angelina Colegrove; siblings, Doug, Vicky, and Late Brother Billy, ; Aunts and Uncles, John, Margaret (Midge), Diane, Lenore; cousins, nieces, and nephews and beloved pets Ludo, Artemis, and the late Pepper, Lady, and Cleo.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top with a visitation from 1:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
