Richard J. Hochreiter, 95, of Mountain Top, passed away on Thursday evening, September 7, 2023 in the Providence Place, Drums.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Harry and Esther Ell Hochreiter; was a graduate of GAR High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Penn State. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was the recipient of several service awards. Richard was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance and was a member of St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. He enjoyed reading, debating politics and was an avid Penn State Fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Thomas Hochreiter.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Lillian Savitski Hochreiter; sons Richard (Diane) Hochreiter of Mountain Top, Mark (Melissa) Hochreiter of Millersville, Michael (Audra)Hochreiter of Newville; grandchildren, Lauren (Michael) Sgriccia, RJ Hochreiter and Fiancé Sarah Marlow, Ellie and Colin Hochreiter; two great grandchildren, Mia and Grant Sgriccia; nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 10:30 am from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Jude's Church, South Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top. Reverend Joseph Evanko will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown.
Friends are invited to join the family, Wednesday, for a visitation from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
