R. Michael Reece, Jr. of Mountain Top; passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Torrance, CA, he was the son of Roy Michael Reece, Sr. of Arizona and the late Janice McTiernan Reece. Following high school, Mike served his country proudly in the United States Marines, during the Persian Gulf War. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal with 3 stars; National Defense Service Medal; the Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 stars; Kuwait Liberation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 2 stars; Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Navy Unit Commendation; Joint Meritorious Unit Award; US Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon; Certificate of Commendation 2 Award; Certificate of Academic Achievement; Meritorious Mast; Letter of Appreciation 3 Award; Rifle Expert Badge; Pistol Expert Badge; Division Gold Rifle Competition Badge; National Marine Corps Gold Rifle Competition Badge and Division Bronze Pistol Competition Badge.
He worked as a Sales Manager at Motorworld, Wilkes-Barre and was a member of Parker Hill Church. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys Football Fan; loved to play golf; spend time with family and friends and traveling to Arizona.
In addition to his father, Mike is survived by his loving wife, Angela Marcincavage Reece; children, Kristen, Michael, Matthew and Amanda Reece; two step children, Thomas and Amber Hughes; two grandchildren; sister, Sherrie (Richard) Castillo; brother, James Reece; half sister, Kimberly Fornfeist; half brother, Johnny Reece, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 7:00 pm from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd, Mountain Top. Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
