SCOTT D. LEWIS

Scott Lewis, 56, of Mountain Top, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2024 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, suddenly after experiencing a cerebral hemorrhage.

Born in Erie, he was the son of Gilbert Lewis of Erie and the late Linda Thrush Bastow. Scott graduated from Northeast High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, a member of Delta Chi Fraternity that he gained lifelong friends from.  He worked for Guard Insurance as an Insurance Claims Manager and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins Fan.  Scott enjoyed spending time with family, hockey, bike riding and playing guitar.

He was fiercely loyal to his sports – driving his wife (and the cats) crazy over bad plays with the Steelers or Pens. Same thing if they won – the whole neighborhood heard the WOOOO! His support for Gavin whether in hockey or academics was unwavering. He never missed a game and spent countless hours traveling and coaching youth hockey teams with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Jr. Knights. Our hockey memories were some of the best times of our lives.

Scott had elected to be an Organ Donor. We made the decision to honor that wish through the Gift of Life Donor Program in the hope that his final act would be one of great compassion.

In addition to his father, left to enjoy the memories are his wife, Jill Lewis; son Gavin Lewis of Pittsburgh; sister Kim (Wayne) Halstead of Kentucky and stepbrothers Ben Bastow (Christa); Janine Hodinko (Matt) of Erie and Zachary Bastow (Emily) of Washington, as well as “The Shoe” which will take up new residence in a well-known location in Shavertown, PA.

Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 4:00 pm from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. MountainTop.

Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 2 to 4 pm.
