Sharon M. Gorka, 75, of Mountain Top, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Albina Yarrish and was a graduate of Luzerne County Community College, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. While her career path led her to work as a production associate, she never lost her love for learning and her passion for helping others.
Sharon had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She especially enjoyed attending concerts and live shows, with a special fondness for country music. Weekends often found her exploring flea markets in search of hidden treasures and enjoying the simple joys of community life.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church, where she found deep spiritual fulfillment and a sense of community. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and she was often seen offering a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need.
She was deeply involved in her hometown and served proudly as the president of the Mountain Top Social Club. Sharon also dedicated her time as a local judge of elections and was known for organizing bingo games at Perkins on the third Wednesday of each month—a tradition that brought joy and camaraderie to many.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted partner of over 30 years, Joseph Fillman; her beloved sons, Brian Gorka and his wife Angela, and Eric Gorka and his wife Patricia; her brother, Steven Yarrish; her cherished grandchildren, Danielle Eroh, Aaron Gorka, and Aubrey Gorka; and her close friend, Rosemarie Kotyk. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:00 am in St. Mary Our Lady Help of Christian Church, 3529 St Marys Rd, Wapwallopen. Interment will follow in Albert Cemetery, Mountain Top.
Arrangements under the direction of the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation Mountain Top.
