STEPHANIE CAWLEY

Stephanie G. Cawley, of White Haven, passed away suddenly on December 18, 2025, at the age of 81.

Born on August 18, 1944, Stephanie was the daughter of the late James and Marion Graziul Boyle. She was a proud graduate of Wilkes University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English, and later attended Marywood University to study social work. 

Stephanie built a meaningful and impactful career in social services, using her education and compassion to advocate for others.  She started her social work career at Children & Youth Services, where she was an advocate for children in foster care and sought legal protection for children at risk. Later she was a supervisor at The Victims Resource Center in Wilkes Barre, where she worked with domestic and sexual abuse violence victims for several years. 
She ended her extensive social work career as the Director of the Carbon County Office on Aging, dedicating herself to improving the lives of seniors throughout the community. In addition to her professional work, Stephanie volunteered with Legal Services of Northeast Pennsylvania, where she regularly visited nursing homes to speak with residents, ensuring they were treated with dignity, care, and respect. Her commitment to justice and advocacy reflected her deep sense of empathy and unwavering concern for others.

Stephanie was known and dearly loved for her wonderful sense of humor. She found joy in gardening, and she especially loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, something she did exceptionally well. She also cherished traveling the world with her loving husband, creating lasting memories together.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward R. Cawley Sr.; her son, Edward R. Cawley Jr., and his wife Allison, of White Haven; her daughter, Sharon Cawley, of Newton, Massachusetts; her sisters, Marion Petrillo, Michele Boyle, Anne Boyle, and Jacquelyn Ghormoz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Stephanie was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Heaman and Suzanne Rash.

Stephanie will be remembered for her compassion, dedication to service, love of family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and advocacy will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Visitation will be at 10 am at St. Patrick’s Parish of White Haven, on Saturday, December 27, 2025 followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 am.
