THOMAS J. ZAJAC, SR.

Thomas J. Zajac Sr. 82, of Dorrance, died at home on Monday Sept. 30, 2024.

Born in Patterson, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Wyda) Zajac and resided in Hobbie and Dorrance his whole life. After his retirement as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Local 542, Tom went on to own and operate TNT Auto Recycling in Dorrance. He also served as a Dorrance Township Supervisor. He was a former member of St. Mary's Church in Dorrance.

Tom enjoyed auto racing, having attended many race tracks throughout the east coast with his son and ran his own late model stock car at Evergreen Raceway in the early 80s. He then later raced with his son Tom Jr in the street stock division at Evergreen in the late 80's and 90's. He was a spotter for Jim Lamoreaux when he was running the Nascar Sportsman and Arca series and helped many local racers through the years. Tom loved to wheel and deal. It was often said that he could sell a deaf guy a radio. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Marla Zajac and Tara Zajac; three granddaughters, Kristi Ann Cheek, Manda Birk and Erin McPeek.

Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of 61 years, Freda Mae (Kaylor) Zajac; children Debra Sipple of Hanover Township, Yvonne Zajac of Gainesville, FL, Angela Bruch and her husband, Michael of Grovetown GA, Thomas Zajac Jr. and his wife, Diana of Sugarloaf; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He is additionally survived by brothers Carl of Hobbie, John of Hialeah FL, Raymond and wife Mary, Berwick. Sisters Suzanne and husband Ray Urban, Palmyra, Monica and husband Paul Melnick, Rochester NY. Marie and husband Richard Spaide, Nescopeck, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm from the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top.

Friends are invited for a visitation from 12:00 noon until time of service.
