YVONNE T. SWEENEY

Yvonne Sweeney, of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully with her devoted husband by her side. Born in Bethlehem, she was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Sylvia Troiani.

A proud graduate of Villanova University, Yvonne earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education. Her professional career was marked by compassion and leadership. She served as Nurse Manager at the Burn Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Director of Nursing at Franklin Square Hospital, and most recently, at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Yvonne was a devoted member of Saint Mary, Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, and was deeply involved with St. Jude Parish, where she served on the Pastoral Council and actively participated in the Parent Teacher Guild. Her dedication to youth was unwavering, especially through her involvement in Mountain Top youth soccer and various parish and community activities.

At the heart of Yvonne's life were her sons. She showered them with endless love, affection, and guidance, helping them reach their fullest potential. Her spiritual influence shaped them into the men they are today, and those qualities were evident when they supported their mother with grace and strength during her extended illness.

Yvonne created a warm, welcoming home filled with music, laughter, and love. She cherished every moment spent with her family—especially their beach trips to Ocean City, New Jersey, and Maryland—and eagerly anticipated their ski vacations. Beyond these adventures, Yvonne had a passion for shopping, dancing, and singing. Their home was always vibrant with the sounds of the 70s and 80s. Her wit and infectious laughter could light up any room she entered, and she brought joy to everyone with her vibrant personality.

To know Yvonne was to feel truly seen, heard, and welcomed. She made every person she encountered feel valued, and every life she touched was better for having known her. As an extraordinary mother, Yvonne was not only devoted to her own children but also embraced their friends as part of her family. Many will fondly remember her driving the white Toyota Sequoia, filled with kids—especially during baseball season. She will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Yvonne is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Sweeney Jr.; sons, Christopher Sweeney III and his wife Felicia, and Michael P. Sweeney and his wife Nicole; grandchildren Christopher IV, Sophia, and James Arthur Sweeney; brother Arthur (Rhonda) Troiani; sisters Rebecca (Steve) Chando, Linda Lee (Sam) Niedbala; as well as extended family members and friends.

Family, friends and the public are invited to the viewing Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 6 to 8 pm at the Desiderio-Lehman Funeral and Cremation, 436 S. Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top.
